Engine 62's foam tank and system can only be used on flammable liquid fires if the Class A/B foam concentrate product is used or another Class B foam.

The onboard air compressor can also provides the air component. Further agitation occurs while travelling through the hoseline, and use of a solid bore nozzle directs and applies the product to the fire.

If the compressor is not used, an air aspirating nozzle or other type will have to be used to complete the finished foam product at the end of the line.

If Engine 62 engages in flammable liquid firefighting, the 30 gallon foam tank can be used and refilled with 5 extra buckets stored in the pump well or by more Class A/B during operations.

On-board foam proportioners (such as Engine 62) inject foam concentrate into a discharge which is controlled by a control head on the pump panel.
The control head can be set to inject various percentage rates such as the 3% required for hydrocarbon fires or other settings such as .2, .5% etc. as needed for Class A use.

Make sure the foam head displays
( 3% ), not ( .3% ) for Class B fires.
